Upload a scan between 200-300 DPI for the best accuracy. Tesseract reads the image and adds a hidden text layer underneath, so the visual stays exactly as it is - same pixels, same layout - but you can now select, copy, and search every word. The process takes about 30 seconds for a 10-page document at 250 DPI.
You get a searchable PDF without altering the original image quality. This works for English and Chinese (simplified or traditional) among other languages. GekiPDF handles files up to 50 MB, allows 40 conversions per hour per IP, and deletes your file after one hour. No signup, no watermark.
Frequently asked questions
Does OCR change the look of my scan?
No. The text layer is added invisibly below the image. Your page remains pixel-for-pixel identical; only the underlying data becomes searchable.
What DPI should I use for best results?
Use scans at 200-300 DPI. Lower than 150 DPI often misses characters; above 400 DPI gives diminishing returns and slower processing.
Can I search in Chinese after OCR?
Yes. Language packs include simplified and traditional Chinese, plus English and others. Select the language before converting if available.
